What is Maker Faire?
Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these "makers" to show hobbies, experiments, projects.
We call it the Greatest Show (& Tell) on Earth - a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness.

Remote Control Warship Combat with Mid-Atlantic Battle Group
We are a club that builds remote control scale models of historical warships, arm them with auto-reloading, HPA or CO2 powered BB guns, and battle them. The cannons are low powered but the ships are designed so that they can still be sunk by battle damage. Yes, we actually sink the ships. We then recover them and go back for more! This year our focus will be on how affordable at home 3D printing is transforming hull construction. We will also share updates on the 3d cannons we showcased last year. While the ships and their cannons are the stars of the show we also hope to give some visibility into the iterative process of solving challenging engineering problems. As always, we also plan to have cannons on hand you can fire yourself!

We are a local club of homebrewers, mostly related to beer, mead & cider, but have had fun with several other categories of fermentation.
Finding Pests in Your Home
We will have a model home with pests hidden throughout it for children (and adults) to search for them. Once they have been found, various facts about those specific pests will be discussed along with other ways to prevent pests from infesting their homes.
Natural Dye with plants
I plan on having two tents as I have in previous years. One tent will hold my artwork for sale. The other tent will have a vat of Indigo where participants can pay a small fee of two dollars to choose something to dye with different folding techniques. I am also going to have a table with a display of plants that give a variety of colors with factual information.
Rooted Exhange
Maybe opportunities for people to practice yoga, but also potentially a craft for kids. I also was a participant from CoStarters
MAKE Roanoke
Come engrave a keychain at MAKE Roanoke's booth using our pantograph engraver. Stay and compete in a friendly game of Hextraction while you learn more about Roanoke's first non-profit makerspace!
